VAR...are we all looking forward to it?
Surely Nobes will be in double figures this season?

Is it gonna be a leveller or favour the bigger clubs?

when it's still 'referee's call', I don't see the point in having it

It's not just VAR, it's VAIR

The main problem is idiot referees

Will be the ruin of the game. 2 seasons max before it's binned or changed massively.

On a related subject, please familiarise yourselves with the new rules so you dont make a twat of yourself during the match.

Said it will be shit when it was first discussed.
Thought it was shit at the World Cup.
Thought is was shit in the few mins I saw of the women's World Cup.
I'll guarantee it will be shit this season in the Prem.

I think it's a load of old shit.

Re: VAR...are we all looking forward to it?
Would just like it used for blatant miscarriages of justice, like Liverpool's goal against us which was miles offside or Fat Franks goal V Germany in the World Cup.

The thing I did like about it in the WC, is that it can stop grabbing etc at corners, which does my head in, even when we do it!

Re: VAR...are we all looking forward to it?
No more celebrations from Antonio, he won’t want to make himself look a mug, will look over to the ref first to wait for the VAR outcome, then the moment will be lost, same with the fans celebrations at the game or in the armchair. I may switch over to the snooker.

looking forward to a lot of the teams like man united and liverpool not getting dodgy decisions

so yes, but the process of decision making needs to be much quicker than current speed

Re: VAR...are we all looking forward to it?
Thats what its supposed to be, for clear and obvious errors but refs seem to use it as an excuse to give penalties for the barest of touches or softest of handballs when they didnt give a penalty in the first place.

Can only think its going to lead to more bias towards the "big" teams as they go and look and find a reason to give a penalty for them for any reason

Not in the slightest and along with all the rule changes our game is getting more and more STERILE

Re: VAR...are we all looking forward to it?
One of the worst things I've ever seen in football. Nothing will change, in fact the bigger teams will probably get even more decisions.

It's going to be the main sporting headlines every weekend, it'll be an utter shambles.

.the beautiful game is imperfect ..that was part of the beauty...discussing decisions like the 1966 wc final goal...now it will be oh wasn't that a great VAR decision...so glad i watched & attended football before some shit tv channel decided to reinvent it.

thanks sky..no contact football with tv analysis taking over the game in soulless new stadiums. enjoy.

Re: VAR...are we all looking forward to it?
Are they going to be dithering over toes, fingers or noses being offside? I hope not because that really will kill the game.

Yes.

Re: VAR...are we all looking forward to it?
Am I fuck!

And have you seen what constitutes the new handball rules? What a fucking abortion.

The law remains that deliberate handball is an offence. But accidental handball will also be a free-kick or penalty if...

* the ball goes into the goal off an attacker
* a player gets the ball using his or her arm or hand and
then scores, or creates a goalscoring opportunity (such as
Ellen White's disallowed goal against Sweden in the
Women's World Cup third-place play-off)
* the player's arm or hand is above their shoulder (unless
the player has controlled the ball onto his own arm or
hand)
* a player's hand or arm has made their body "unnaturally
bigger"

A handball will not be a free-kick if...

* the ball is knocked on to a hand by the player in question
or a nearby player
* the arm or hand is close to their body and "has not made their body unnaturally bigger"
* a player is falling and the ball touches their hand or arm
when it is between their body and the ground to support
the body - but not extended to make the body bigger

Why the fuck do they have to complicate things. This is just officials meddling to justify their jobs.

Terrible, terrible idea.

Hopefully just a season or two of fucking up our beautiful game will be enough, and we can have real football back again.

crystal falace 4:35 Fri Aug 2
Re: VAR...are we all looking forward to it?
The handball stuff there almost makes sense though, guess they are just trying to take as much subjectivity out of the equation as possible and literally try and spell it out for the referees
